Over a hundred and fifty people turned up for the Prepster event at The Eagle London on Saturday (19/03/2016).
The evening was hosted by Prepster co-founder Will Nutland and started with a showing of Nicholas Feustel‘s short film about the PROUD PrEP trial followed by a panel discussion of PrEP experts including;
- Nicholas Feustel – film maker Georgetown Media and PrEP activist
- Marc Thompson – PrEPster co-founder and Peer Mentor at Positively UK
- Sheena McCormack – PROUD study + Dean Street
- Mike Brady – Medical Director, Terrence Higgins Trust
- Greg Owen – I Want PrEP Now
What is Prep?
PrEP stands for pre-exposure HIV prophylaxis. It’s a way of preventing HIV infection by taking a pill on an ongoing basis before sex. It’s taken by someone who doesn’t have HIV, to prevent them from getting HIV. The PrEP pill is an antiretroviral drug – the same type of pill taken by someone who already has HIV to treat HIV.

What is PrEPster?
PrEPster is a campaign and information resource that aims to educate and agitate for PrEP access in England and beyond.
PrEPster.info and its related activities are produced by a volunteer group of London-based HIV prevention activists. They are independent from any statutory or voluntary sector organisations.

What was the PROUD study?
The PROUD Study was a two year study that showed how a daily pill could offer excellent protection against HIV in the real world.
